TorBox with Kodi: WebDAV Setup Guide (2026)

Kodi can read TorBox files over WebDAV without any add-on. Here is the clean setup, and when an add-on is worth considering.

Last updated Reviewed November 2026

Kodi is open-source media player software that runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and many TV boxes. It already knows how to read network shares, and WebDAV is one of the protocols it supports. That makes TorBox a good fit with no third-party add-on: your finished downloads show up as folders and you play them directly.

Menu names differ a bit between Kodi versions and skins. If something below does not match your screen, follow the Kodi wiki page linked in the sources for your version.

Protocol
WebDAV (HTTPS)
Server
webdav.torbox.app
Port
443
Login
Email and password, or torbox and API key
Refresh
Every 15 minutes

Before you start

  • A TorBox account. WebDAV lists your own account’s files, so you need some content there already. Use files you have the right to: your own videos, public domain or independent films.
  • Your credentials. If you signed up through Apple or Google, you have no password yet, so use the torbox username with your API key.
  • Basic details on the WebDAV feature, including the deletion warning.

Setup

  1. Open the file sources screen

In Kodi, go to Videos (or the Settings, Media, Videos section on newer versions) and choose Files, then Add videos. Select Browse.

  2. Add a network location

Choose Add network location. Set the protocol to WebDAV (HTTPS), the server name to webdav.torbox.app, the port to 443 and enter your username and password. Leave the remote path empty.

  3. Confirm the source

Select OK. Kodi shows the share in the browse list. Pick it and confirm, then name the source, for example “TorBox”.

  4. Play a file

Open the source, browse your folders and select a file. Start with a small known file to confirm login, seeking and audio tracks.

Library scanning

Kodi can scrape your sources into a library with artwork and descriptions. On a remote source this means hundreds of requests, and TorBox has API rate limits. Practical tips:

  • Add the source as files only first, and see whether you actually need a scraped library.
  • If you do scan, set the content type per folder and scan one folder at a time.
  • Turn off “scan on start-up” for this source.
  • Use TorBox’s flatten option or tags if folder structure is messy. Tagged items show up under a folder named after the tag.

Add-ons: optional, and your own risk

There are community Kodi add-ons that connect directly to TorBox with an API key. They come and go, are not made or supported by TorBox, and some are unmaintained. If you consider one, read its own documentation and repository, treat the API key like a password (see how to keep it safe), and install only from a source you trust. The plain WebDAV source above needs none of that.

Troubleshooting

Kodi and TorBox WebDAV problems
Problem CauseFix
Login keeps failing Wrong protocol or credentials Use WebDAV (HTTPS), port 443, test with the API key option
Folder is empty Listing not refreshed yet Use the /refresh/ address, wait, reopen
Buffering Your connection or a very large file Test the same file in the TorBox web player
File vanished Retention expired Check the item in the dashboard, consider AirLock

For files you want to keep, see AirLock and keep a local backup as well. Other players that use the same WebDAV address are covered in the Infuse and Jellyfin guides.

Our take

For Kodi, WebDAV is the lowest-maintenance route: no add-on to break, one set of credentials, and the same address works on every device you own. Its weak spot is library scanning, so keep scanning light. Compare plans on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kodi support WebDAV natively?

Yes. Kodi lists WebDAV (HTTPS) as a protocol when you add a network location as a video source.

What are the TorBox WebDAV details?

Server webdav.torbox.app, HTTPS, port 443, and your TorBox email and password, or the username torbox with your API key as the password.

Do I need a Kodi add-on for TorBox?

No. A plain WebDAV source is enough. Third-party add-ons exist, but their availability changes and they are not covered by TorBox. Check an add-on's own documentation before installing.

Why do new downloads not appear?

TorBox refreshes the WebDAV listing every 15 minutes. Open webdav.torbox.app/refresh/ to force it, then reopen the folder in Kodi.

Can I delete files from Kodi?

Do not. Deleting one file through a WebDAV client removes the whole item from your TorBox account.

Does this work for scraping artwork into a library?

It can, but scanning a remote source makes many requests. Add sources as plain file sources first and scan sparingly.
